Summer's bounty has arrived at the SummerHouse. Shop for just-picked tomatoes and sweet corn, zucchini and green beans! Plus a limited supply of Summercrisp pears from the University of Minnesota, as well as U of M cheese and meats. You'll also find specials on wrought iron garden décor and pottery! Please visit us soon.
Shop for fresh, local produce, U of M meats (including brats and breakfast sausage), gardening supplies and heritage vegetables at the Arboretum's SummerHouse, a rustic, charming garden market located a mile west of the Arboretum entrance on State Highway 5 (at the intersection with Rolling Acres Road). Want to become more involved with local farms? Purchase a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) "share" from our partners, Riverbend Farms (www.rbfcsa.com) or Loon Organics (www.loonorganics.com) and pick up a weekly supply of fresh organic vegetables, fruits, herbs and flowers at the SummerHouse. Check out their websites for further information.
The SummerHouse (open May 13-Aug. 31) shares a location with the Arboretum's Apple House (open Sept. 1 to early November) and offers visitors a chance to purchase local produce from area farmers, as well as fruit, vegetable and plant introductions from the University of Minnesota Horticultural Research Center, which is located on SummerHouse/Apple House grounds.
