The Minnesota Landscape Arboretum outdoor gardens, and indoor Visitor Center and historic Edwin Lundie buildings are beautiful settings for your client’s celebrations and photos. Special use permits are required for all professional photographers.

The Daily Photographer Permit is based on the number of participants and includes gate admission for photographers and clients ages 16 and older. 

1-4 clients $75

5-10 clients, $150

11-20 clients $250

21-30 clients $350

31+ clients Negotiated Fee

To reserve your session, the permit must be purchased by noon the prior business day. Any permits purchased on the day of the photo session will be subject to a $25 processing fee. Your daily photo badge can be picked up at the information desk in the Oswald Visitor Center.


Commercial photo sessions need to apply through University Relations.  



PLEASE NOTE! The Arboretum does not allow drone photography during regular business hours.

Exceptions are:

  • Drones may be permitted from media organizations with specific permission from Arboretum Marketing & Communications or Guest Services at pre-designated times.
  • Arboretum Operations and Research staff may request and schedule drone flyover footage of Arboretum property and construction projects.
