Arboretum Announces Membership Price Increase

Chanhassen, MN (Feb. 19, 2013) - The Minnesota Landscape Arboretum will offer new membership packages and new rates, effective April 30, 2013.  This is the first membership price change since 2009 and the Arboretum attributes it to an increase in year-round Arboretum offerings and to the growing costs of maintaining and operating the facility, which is the largest public garden and horticultural research center of its kind in the Upper Midwest.

Beginning April 30, 2013, the following membership packages and price increases will take effect:

  • An annual membership for one - renamed the Solo/Apple level - will increase from $45 to $49. (Children ages 12 & under receive complimentary admission.)
  • An annual membership for 2 people - renamed the Duo/Pine level - will increase from $65 to $79. (Children ages 12 & under receive complimentary admission.)
  • An annual membership for 4 - renamed Duo+2/Rose level - will increase from $85 to $99. (Children ages 12 & under receive complimentary admission.)

Arboretum membership offers several benefits, including:  year-round free admission to the arboretum, plus reciprocal free admission and other discounts at more than 270 botanical gardens, arboreta and conservatories nationwide; subscription to the Arboretum Magazine; discounts on Gift Store purchases, Arboretum classes and events and room rentals; Arboretum restaurant coupons and more.

Current members - totaling 22,000 households to date - are encouraged to take advantage of early-bird renewal pricing (til April 30) at the current member rate, without any loss of months or any other penalty, regardless of their official renewal date.  For non-members, Arboretum daily admission rates are $12 per person age 13 & older; children 12 & younger receive complimentary admission.

The Arboretum offers complimentary member events, such as yoga in the gardens, live outdoor music and outdoor movies, starting this summer.  Several new features and improvements include: a children's Green Play Yard, a new sculpture garden featuring the Harrison sculpture collection of more than 20 works by internationally known artists, a newly certified pine collection, restored and improved bog boardwalk and other improvements to display gardens and collections, such as a new waterfall in the Azalea Garden, wayfinding signage along trails and paved walkways and, coming soon, visitor circulator vehicles with step-on and step-off shuttle service.
