Matthew Alfs

Matthew Alfs, MH, RH (AHG) has been a clinical herbalist for over 20 years, assisting over 7,000 persons to revitalize their health over that span of time. He was educated at Wild Rose College of Natural Healing in Calgary, Alberta and at the American Academy of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. In 2002, Matthew was awarded a coveted registered-herbalist (RH) status from the American Herbalists Guild for educational and clinical excellence, a status held by less than 250 persons in the USA. In 2003, he founded the Midwest School of Herbal Studies (www.mwherbalstudies.com) to provide herbal education to eager students across North America, while also teaching courses in herbalism at several area colleges. He is the author of several books, including 300 Herbs: Their Indications and Contraindications (2003), Edible & Medicinal Wild Plants of the Midwest (2013), and Diary of a Country Herbalist (2017), as well as the 1,500-page curriculum for the Midwest School of Herbal Studies. In his spare time, Matthew enjoys nature exploration, wild-food foraging, fitness activities, and fellowship with family and friends.
