Directions to the Arboretum

Additional gated access via Farm at the Arb: Not available for general daily admission, this is used primarily for Farm-based classes, events, and winter trails.

Directions from Minneapolis

  • Take 35W to I-494 to State Hwy. 5 (exit 11C) or 35W to 62 west and follow the signs to Hwy. 212, but do not exit the highway, stay on Hwy. 5. 
  • Continue west on Hwy. 5 for 9 miles through the city of Chanhassen. Just past the intersection of State Hwy. 41 will be a brown sign on the right side of the road, just before the Arboretum entrance.
  • On the left, you will see the large, green entrance sign with the Arb logo.
  • Turn left onto Arboretum Drive and follow that to the gatehouse for entry.

Directions from St.Paul

  • Take I-494 to State Hwy. 5 (exit 11C) OR take I-94 to I-494 and go south to State Hwy. 5 (exit 11C).
  • Continue west on Hwy. 5 for 9 miles through the city of Chanhassen. Just past the intersection of State Hwy. 41 will be a brown sign on the right side of the road, just before the Arboretum entrance.
  • On the left, you will see the large, green entrance sign with the Arb logo.
  • Turn left onto Arboretum Drive and follow that to the gatehouse for entry.

Accessing the Arboretum via bicycle

Visitors can connect to the Arboretum using hundreds of miles of regional trails, depending on where they’re coming from and how far they’d like to ride! Learn more about biking to the Arboretum

Parking & Transportation

The Arboretum offers free parking in all of our on-site parking lots. Please follow all signage and park only in designated parking spaces. Once you've parked you are welcome to take a paid tram tour from the visitor center or use the Bee-Line Shuttle (open seasonally). 

Accessible Parking

Accessible parking is available in the front rows of our main Oswald Visitor Center parking lot. Guests may drop off passengers at the entrance using the road directly in front of the visitor center.

Bike to the Arboretum

Visitors on bicycles need to book tickets to enter the Arboretum. All cyclists, including EZ Pass users, should enter through the main admission lane at the gate and not the EZ Pass lane, which is not suitable for cyclists.

Grounds Transportation

Explore the Arboretum in a variety of ways! Lace-up your shoes for walking tour(s) or opt for the Tram, Bee-Line Shuttle or Three-Mile Drive which are open seasonally.

Peak Times

During peak visitation times, we will utilize parking in our grass, overflow Hill Top parking lot near the Dog Commons. On those days, transportation will be provided between the off-site parking and the Oswald Visitor Center entrance.
