With smiles and sweepers, 18 volunteers from Tennant Co. arrived at the Arboretum on April 11, 2012 to clear our roads, parking lots and garden paths of sand, dirt, leaves and other winter debris.  They were greeted by Operations Director Pete Moe, with welcoming remarks by Arboretum Director Ed Schneider. For this comprehensive spring-cleaning effort, Tennant utilized half a million dollars worth of state-of-the-art equipment (thanks for Logix and ATS Specialized for transporting).  The Tennant team cleaned nearly 1 million square feet of hard surface (about 22 acres).  They helped remove more than 25 yards - over 20 tons - of debris. Up to 200 hours were donated during this spring cleaning! Grateful Arboretum staff provided lunch for these dedicated volunteers. In addition to its aesthetic value, the cleanup effort also aids the environment by keeping excess dirt and debris out of our wetlands and water features.  Great job!
