Minnesota Landscape Arboretum Poetry Contest Official Rules

Minnesota Landscape Arboretum is herein known as the Sponsor

Introduction:
The Sponsors of the contest reserve the right to change, alter, or otherwise tailor the following rules without notice.

Eligibility:

The Minnesota Landscape Arboretum Poetry Contest is open to all students enrolled in grades 2-8 (including home schooled and tutored children), regardless of experience or previous publication, except where prohibited. Employees and agents of the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum and their immediate families are ineligible and may not enter. Each entrant may submit one poem of no more than 20 lines and must appeal to a family-friendly audience and make mention of one of the following words (or form of): Tree, Green, Leaves, Foliage, Grass, Plants, Landscape or Flowers. The content of the poem may not be vulgar or offensive, can not employ profanity, and must be the original, individual work of the entrant. All submissions become the property of the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum and will be considered for publication and may appear on this website. Submissions by multiple entrants may be mailed together in one package to save on postage.
All entries sent by mail must include completed entry form.
All entries sent via email must include the following information
Entrants must complete the entry form its entirety to qualify for the contest and may submit no more than one poem per contest.

Contest Dates:
The Minnesota Landscape Arboretum Poetry Contest begins at 12:00:01 a.m. C.T. on Monday, April 7, 2008, and ends at 11:59:59 p.m. C.T. on Wednesday, April 28, 2008. ALL ENTRIES MUST BE RECIEVED BY DEADLINE DATE. Contest winners will be announced on our website on Arbor Day, April 28
Selection:

Your poem should be no more than 20 lines long.
Your poem must appeal to a family-friendly audience.
The entries will be judged based on originality, creativity and artistic quality.
Winning poems will be publicized on the Arboretum website after April 28.

Prizes:
(1) winner will be selected in each of two divisions (Division 1 - Grades 2-4, Division 2 - Grades 5-8). Each winner will receive their choice of one free class from the Young Artist or Friday Artist Series at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum, Feature on website and Special recognition.

Fees:
There are no entry fees for any of the contests. No purchase necessary. No financial obligation to enter or win the contests.

Notification:
Winners are announced April 28, 2008. Names of the winners and their respective poems will appear on this website.

Privacy Policy:
The Minnesota Landscape Arboretum collects personal information for the purpose of notifying contest winners. All information submitted is kept in confidence and used solely for notification purposes and shall not be made public by the Minnesota landscape Arboretum. The Minnesota Landscape Arboretum does not lease, lend, sell, or share personal information collected. Minor children must have parental permission to enter the contest.
