An Evening with Paul James
Gardening enthusiasts are invited to "An Evening with Paul James" on Wednesday, May 8. The informal presentation is set for 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the MacMillan Auditorium, Visitor Center. The event is free for Arboretum members and free with gate admission ($12) for non-members. Registration is not required. Complimentary light refreshments (coffee & lemonade) will be available.
Master Gardener Paul James, better known as The Gardener Guy, created his first garden in 1979, and he's been at it ever since. In 1995, he launched the hugely successful television program, "Gardening by the Yard," on HGTV. During its 19-season run, James built a large following as he focused on simple and natural solutions to gardening problems. Although he's no longer producing the show, James continues to reach out to his devoted fans through personal appearances across the country.
He is also the spokesperson for National Public Gardens Day, a national day of recognition that pays tribute to public gardens and their important role in educating the public on environmental preservation through plant and water conservation. This year, National Public Gardens Day will take place Friday, May 10.
