Ornamental Grasses Open House
1-4 p.m. Ornamental Grasses Collection on Three-Mile Drive
Informal viewing of the Arboretum's renowned ornamental grasses collection, including new plantings.  Growers and retailers  - and the general public - are invited to walk through the collection.  Mary Meyer, U of M horticulture professor and manager of the collection, will be present to discuss new grasses and answer questions. Refreshments provided.  

Monthly Afternoon Tea
2:30-4 p.m.  Snyder Tea Room

Treasures from the Andersen Horticultural Library: Empress Josephine's Garden

A rare opportunity to view an historic book of botanical illustrations from the collection of Empress Josephine Bonaparte.  They were created by famed artist Pierre Joseph Redoute.   Kathy Allen, head librarian of Andersen Horticultural Library,

'Center of Gravity' Exhibit - Rock-Balancing Demo
11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m., Arboretum Restaurant Gallery
"Center of Gravity" photographer and balanced-rock sculptor Peter Juhl will demonstrate his rock-balancing skills.  No glue, magnets or artificial supports are used in creating these gravity-defying sculptures - some of which only last long enough for a photo to be snapped.  Visitors can check out the exhibit while watching the magical balancing act!

All day, Oswald Visitor Center
Free admission for anyone wearing a costume.  Dress up the kids and "trick or treat" for apples in the Gift Store and cookies in the Restaurant.  Storytime for the young and young-at-heart and "spooky" tunes with singer Sheri O'Meara.
Don't miss the fantastic Pumpkin Palooza display inside the Oswald Visitor center and the Scarecrows on Parade on the surrounding terraces and Arboretum grounds.
