Memorials and Tribute Gifts

From buildings to benches, dozens of structures sprinkled throughout the Arboretum's 1,000 acres stand as personalized, one-of-a-kind tributes.

  • Commemorate an important life event with an engraved brick
  • Remembering a loved one with a memorial bench
  • Celebrate a joyous occasion with a named garden
  • Hold a Memorial or Celebration of Life Service

There are many ways to make a lasting impact at the Arboretum. The Arboretum offers a wide variety of gift options, including trees, benches, gardens, rooms, or specific programs.

Spannaus memorial

Spannaus dedication

At the memorial dedication of the new pine walkway.

The pine collection offers a quiet, contemplative place for visitors. For Arboretum member Barbara Spannaus, the pine collection has special meaning, reflecting her parents’ love of nature and reminding her of family vacations spent in nature—camping, hiking, collecting rocks and pine cones. For Barbara, it was  important to create a “living memorial” her parents would have appreciated. Thus, in their memory, the newly completed pine walkway and seating area offers access to the pine collection to experience the peace of nature. Over the next few years, the Arboretum will be seeking additional donor support to extend the  walkway, and add interpretive signs and visitor brochures.
