Guided Adventures provide an extra dimension of fun and hands-on learning for groups of children visiting the Arboretum during the summer months. They are perfect for daycare, scout, summer school or neighborhood groups looking for a hands-on, activity-packed visit. Each Guided Adventure lasts one hour and is suitable for groups of 10-50 children.

Seeds Away!
Ages 3-5
Seeds don't just sprout, they're on the move! Be part of a travel tale about seeds that pop, glide, and hitch hike to find a place to grow. Chart the growth of giant sunflowers and explore the Children's Garden. Plant a Teddy Bear sunflower to grow at home.
Butterflies and Hummingbirds
Ages 6-12
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to taste with your feet or fly upside down? Discover the amazing lives of butterflies and hummingbirds, some of our most colorful garden visitors. How fast can a hummingbird flap its wings? How does a caterpillar change into a butterfly? What garden flowers do these winged wonders like best? Pot up a plant to attract hummingbirds and butterflies to your home garden.
