Current Arboretum hours: Grounds open every day from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. or sunset. Visitor Center: Monday-Saturday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. ; Sunday, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. Gift Store: Monday-Saturday, 9 a.m.-6 p.m.; Sunday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Restaurant: Monday-Saturday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. , Sunday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. (May 27 on, til 5 p.m.) Andersen Horticultural Library: 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays; 11 a.m.-4:30 p.m. weekends. Learning Center : Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; weekends, noon-4 p.m. Please note: Arboretum admission: $12 for adults and ages 13 & older; free for youths 12 and younger. Always free for members.

Opening Day: 'Gophers in the Gardens' Exhibit noon-2 p.m., Visitor Center and Arboretum grounds Celebrate the opening of the 'Gophers in the Gardens' outdoor display with an official ribbon-cutting ceremony featuring Arboretum Director Ed Schneider and Goldy Gopher, plus members of the U of M Marching Band Fraternity, followed by self-guided walking tours of the Gophers in the Gardens exhibit and photo ops with Goldy. Presented by Minnesota Corn Growers Association.

Creative Container Gardening Class 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., Learning Center, $40-$55 Learn to create colorful designs by breaking from convention and using unexpected combinations of color, texture, height, form and more. 'Paint Out' with Outdoor Painters of MN all day, Arboretum grounds. Members of the Outdoor Painters of Minnesota set up their easels in Arboretum gardens for an all-day paint-out. Check out their exhibit "Outdors Extraordinaire" through July 31 in Oswald Visitor Center's Reedy Gallery.
Live Music! SlovCzech 1-3 p.m. , Trex Deck SlovCzech, a six-member band featuring accordion, violin, bass, drums and two guitars, performs central European folk-rock with influences frm the Czech Republic and Slovakia and Serbia, plus a few Celtic-inspired songs, as well. Sponsored by Park Dental.
