Fall Color Abounds
|
|
With the metro area’s most diverse collection of Minnesota trees, golden hues are seen in the redbud, silver and sugar maples, butternuts, walnuts, green ash, hackberry and honeylocusts, while the viburnum, American bladdernut, highbush cranberry, buckeye, red maple and Virginia creeper are casting off vivid hues of maroon. The prairie is brilliant with blue, purple and white asters, goldenrod, brown-eyed susans, sunflowers, bluestem grasses, switchgrass and Indian grasses. It is estimated that peak color will occur around Oct. 10-20.
