Or go on a Walk for the Curious. 10-11:30 a.m. Explore the prairie with an Arboretum naturalist. $7.50 member/ $15 non-member. --Sunday, July 17: The Arb will reverberate with the infectious, bluesy, country-rock rhythms of Traveled Ground, a Waconia-based band specializing in American roots music. The performance, planned for 6 to 7:30 p.m. on the outdoor Trex Leaf Deck, is part of the Roots Rhythms Outdoor Music Series, inspired by the Arboretum's Steelroots summer sculpture exhibition of 16 root-shaped artworks by sculptor Steve Tobin.
Come early and make a day of it. Concert attendees are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets to spread out on the lawn by the Trex Deck. Pack your own picnic lunch or pre-order a Flowerpot lunch from the Arboretum Restaurant (612) 626-3951. The Traveled Ground outdoor concert is free with Arboretum gate admission.
--Also on Saturday and Sunday: Weekend Family Fun: Hummingbirds & Flowers. Noon-4 p.m. each day (drop-in basis, free with gate admission), Learning Center. Learn all about these fascinating birds.

--"Center of Gravity - Balanced Rock Photographs by Peter Juhl." Friday, July 22 - Sunday, Sept. 11. Restaurant Gallery, Oswald Visitor Center. Don't miss local artist Juhl's photos of the unbelievable balanced-rock sculptures he has created in some awesome natural settings.
Make plans to explore the Andes Mountains of Chile and Argentina with Peter Olin, director emeritus of the Arboretum, Jan. 16 - 28, 2012. Fly to Santiago, Chile, and spend two days seeing the sights, museums and vineyards. Then it's on to Chiloe Island in Southern Chile to see historic villages, a sunken forest, penguins and other animals, and immerse yourselves in the local culture. Visit many lakes of staggering beauty, and finally boat through the Andes Mountains into Argentina arriving at Bariloche, a wonderful Patagonian resort town.
