Summer Music in the Gardens

Don't miss the CD release party for popular Minnesota folk band, Locklin Road, this Thursday, June 28, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the MacMillan Terrace Garden, behind the Snyder Building. "Roses and Rain," is the group's fifth CD, and the release party is free with gate admission and open to the public. Attendees are invited to bring a picnic. (Rain location: Great Hall). CDs will be available for purchase. Enjoy other free concerts this summer on Thurs., July 12, Aug. 9 and Sept. 13.

Auxiliary Private Garden Tours

Osprey Banding Open to All

Identification bands will be placed on the young osprey that nest near and on Arboretum and Horticultural Research Center grounds for the purpose of further studying their behavior and flight patterns. This will take place Friday, June 29, at the following times and locales: 8:30 a.m. on HRC property near Hwys. 5 & 41; at 9:15 a.m. near Bavaria Rd. and 82nd St.; and around 10 a.m. near the SummerHouse on HRC grounds. (Banding also takes place Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Carver Park Reserve.  Pls. note this is new info - updated 6/28.  The SummerHouse bird-banding is on Friday at 10 a.m., not Thursday as previously mentioned.) The public is invited to watch the banding process. Just look for the bucket truck and you'll know you're at the right spot. Please observe any Hwy. 5 detours in the area.

Hundreds of Arboretum donors and guests enjoyed a lovely evening and dinner. See party photos. More than $50,000 was raised for the Fund-A-Need, a new step-on, step-off Arboretum Cirulator that will transport visitors across the grounds. In addition, thanks to the generous donations from a live auction, mystery gifts, corporate/patron sponsorships and in-kind support that benefit the Arboretum.

—Auxiliary Garden Tours. It's filling up fast...but some open slots remain on Sunday, July 15, for the Arboretum Auxiliary Garden Tours! The tours will visit four stunning private west metro gardens.  Guests travel via air-conditioned buses and enjoy outdoor brunch or lunch accompanied by live music on the Morgan Terrace at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum. $50 (Sunday)/$55 (Tuesday, Wednesday). Proceeds benefit the Arboretum. Celebrate Independence Day at the Arb. The Arboretum will be open 8 a.m.-6 p.m. on the 4th of July. Come on out, stroll the gardens, check out "Dirt-O-Rama" and the new Green Play Yard.

Orchids for Sale. Purchase orchids and orchid supplies from Orchids Limited in the Arboretum's gift store.  Orchids are priced from $20-$60.  Supplies include: potting bark, fertilizer and humidity trays.
