Join Peter Olin on Southern Charm Garden Tour
Note from Peter Olin: This is another wonderful Arboretum tour filled with houses and gardens of the Old South. We will be at the prestigious Charleston Home and Garden tour on two days and I can tell you that we usually get to see both the house and the garden. We will be at Brookgreen and my friend Director Bob Jewell and his staff are preparing to give us a big welcome to this unusual sculpture garden with a myriad of azaleas and other blooming plants. This garden was founded by sculptor Anna Hyatt Huntington (same family as the Huntington Garden in Pasadena). Nice pieces of art from many sculptors. We will visit Middleton Gardens, one of the finest old Southern gardens, with its famous butterfly ponds and acres of azaleas, probably some camellias still in bloom and of course other spring flowers. I saw a great Magnolia sieboldii - Siebold Magnolia (fragrant, late blooming magnolia that actually we have growing at our Arboretum).
In Savannah, we will tour with our famous tour guide who will be dressed in traditional southern dress and parasol. Not only is she knowledgeable and delightful, she sings Johnny Mercer songs between stops!!
