The Arboretum partners with Carver County Environmental Services to chip and compost yard waste from Arboretum grounds, as well as that brought to the Carver County Environmental Center. The County hires a contractor to properly process the material and the Arboretum provides the land. The Arboretum gardens are the recipients of all the finished compost and wood chips from felled trees on our grounds. No brush, wood, weeds or dead plants or other organic material leave the Arboretum property.
The Arboretum also composts Eurasian Water Milfoil that is harvested from local lakes and applies the finished compost to research plots as a soil amendment.
