Calling all Chanhassen residents! This is your invitation to come experience a premier natural treasure - the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum, located right in our own backyard. On Friday, August 7, the Arboretum, in partnership with the City of Chanhassen, invites residents to enjoy a FREE day as a way of saying "thank you" for being great neighbors. Arboretum admission will be waived throughout the day for Chanhassen residents with valid identification.
The day starts at 8 a.m. with a free nature walk led by wildlife expert Matt Schuth, followed by a 10 a.m. welcoming ceremony with Mayor Tom Furlong and Arboretum Interim Director Mary Meyer. Complimentary coffee and bagels will be available. After the welcome, make your way to the gardens and the Waterosity summer exhibition.
Activities and events include: Explore the Waterosity summer exhibition, including Intriguing Art in the Gardens, The Cutting Edge on Lawns, Harvest your Rain, and more. Experience fresh thinking about people, plants and water. Enjoy the splendor of August blooms, including; lilies, daylilies, clematis, roses, hostas, prairie wildflowers, chrysanthemums and dahlias.
Join wildlife expert Matt Schuth for a free nature walk at 9 a.m. or take a guided walking tour of the Arboretum's most popular display gardens at 10:30 a.m. (FREE, meet at the Visitor Center).
Hop aboard the Trumpet Creeper Tram ($2.50 per person) for a motorized, guided tour of Three-Mile Drive and portions of the Waterosity exhibit (this is a non-stop tour at 10:30 a.m., noon, 1:30 p.m., 3:00 p.m.).
Pick up a kids Activity sheet (FREE) at the Oswald Visitor Center. This engaging activity will take you through the Intriguing Art in the Garden exhibit.
Master gardeners from the Carver & Scott Counties' Master Gardener program will be on hand to answer all your gardening questions at the Oswald Visitor Center.
