Bim Willow, Bent Willow Artisan and Author

Bim Willow is coming back to the Arboretum in a tricked-out bus full of willow and you will not want to miss it! Bent willow furniture was an early American craft that is making a strong comeback. Bim is an experienced artist in this medium, and will walk you step-by-step through the willow project of your choice, resulting in a beautiful bent willow piece within a matter of a few hours--really! You will never feel more proud of the furniture building skills you didn't know you had.

The Power of Balance: Stone Sculptures for your Garden

Level
No experience necessary
Supplies
An assortment of practice rocks will be available to use during class

Get balanced! Dazzle your friends with a new skill that looks like magic and combines elements of meditation, sculpture, and performance art. Peter will explain simple techniques using shape, weight, and friction to create impossible looking balances using ordinary stones. You'll also gain insights on photographing your creations, learn about design and composition, and receive helpful tips on more advanced balancing. You'll leave grounded, refreshed, and able to repeat your balancing act in your own garden or anywhere with stones. You'll never look at stones in the same way again! This workshop is designed for adults; because a general understanding of gravity and physics is discussed, suggested minimum age for this class is 12.
