Pruning Essentials: Deciduous & Coniferous Trees

150-02-09-19-01
Saturday, February 9, 2019
1:30 p.m. - 4 p.m.

Jim Calkins, landscape and production horticulturist, Research Information Director at the MN Nursery and Landscape Association

Proper and timely pruning is a fundamental horticultural practice essential to the health and performance of many landscape plants, including deciduous and coniferous trees. With Jim's expert guidance, you will come to understand the basic principles of pruning that are essential for the long-term health, vigor and productivity of your trees. You will learn the process of carefully planning a pruning job, when and how to prune, and how to train new trees you might plant. Weather permitting, you will also spend time in the Arboretum collections for demonstration and on-site instruction of proper pruning techniques. Be sure to come dressed and ready to spend time outdoors!
