THANK YOU TO ALL WHO PARTICIPATED IN THE HARDY PLANT RESEARCH SYMPOSIUM!
In celebration of a long history of plant breeding and many introductions to Minnesota and the North Central States, the Arboretum hosted an Ornamental Hardy Plant Research Symposium from 8 am - 4 pm in the Snyder Auditorium on Thursday, June 19, 2008. Arboretum members, Master Gardeners, nursery growers, garden center employees, as well as the general public were invited to attend the symposium.
University of Minnesota faculty and research scientists highlighted the research discoveries from the Horticultural Research Center. Specialists from the National Arboretum, University of Connecticut and South Dakota State University discussed the future of plant introductions, plant breeding and how plants survive the cold winters of the Upper Midwest.
