This special day celebrates Minnesota PreK-12 teachers and educators with free admission all day
PLUS special activities and programs for teachers and their families!

Be sure to stop by the Teacher Welcome Station in the Visitor Center Great Hall to pick up your welcome bag, meet the Arboretum Education Team, get maps of the fun summer exhibit, and get advice on the best spots to visit.

* promotion is limited to the first 500 Minnesota PreK-12 teachers and educators. Family or other guests ages 16+ pay $15 admission. Children 15 and under are always free!

3. Present your printed confirmation at the Gatehouse to receive free admission (value $15) on August 2, 2018.

Explore the gardens to look for bees, caterpillars, butterflies, and signs of these visitors. Make up-close observations to discover some of the surprising ways that pollinators sense the world and defend themselves from predators. Craft your own origami creations to take home!
Limit 50 children (first 50 who register via the sign-up form)

FREE Early Childhood Program Observation: PeaPods for Preschoolers
Learning Center

An exclusive opportunity for PreK and Early Childhood Educators to "drop in" to the Learning Center to view the popular PeaPods for Preschoolers program in action! A great way to get ideas or to confidently refer parents to this program.
NOTE that this opportunity is for educator-observation only. Activities and supplies are for registered PeaPods for Preschoolers participants, and are not available to children of Free Teacher Day.

Meet in the Great Hall of the Visitor Center at 10:30am sharp!

Arboretum guides will walk you to the close-by gardens that at their peak bloom to help you pick up gardening ideas and reconnect with nature's serene beauty.

FREE PlantMaker Studio: Hand Made Plant Paper
Learning Center

ALL AGES
Create hand-made paper out of Arboretum plants to take home! Use our diverse plant palette including; colorful flower petals, fragrant herbs, and plants known for their strong fibers. Zoom in with microscopes and get a close up view of fiber plants such as cotton, flax, and papyrus. Then, head outside to visit the summer art installation, Origami in the Gardens.

FREE Garden Fun Stop: House Hunting for Pollinators & Honey Tasting
Tashjian Bee & Pollinator Discovery Center

ALL AGES
How can you help house-hunting pollinators where you live? It's surprisingly simple, make an inviting hollow stem home-starter to hang up. Find out what bare soil is best for native ground dwelling bees and get ideas for what you can do to make pollinators welcome in your neighborhood. Watch insects in action as you explore the bee and pollinator gardens. The honey tasting tour is sure to please your palette as you taste honeys derived from different nectar sources.
