Just Announced - All Plants & Pottery Discounted 25 Percent!
Chanhassen, Minn. (June 20, 2008) - The Minnesota Landscape Arboretum's SummerHouse garden market is offering 25 percent discounts on all shrubs, trees and plants, plus pottery and ironwork.
The SummerHouse (open through late August) shares a location with the Arboretum's AppleHouse (open late-August through November 1) - in Victoria at the intersection of State Highway 5 and Rolling Acres Road, one mile west of the Arboretum entrance. The market is open every day from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Daily updates on the SummerHouse's featured selections of produce and plants will be available on a recorded message on the SummerHouse Hotline: (952) 443-1409.
The Arboretum has a long, vibrant history of supporting the state's agricultural industry. Its Horticultural Research Center (HRC), celebrating 100 years this year, has generated more than 90 plant introductions over the past 99 years, from disease-resistant azaleas and dogwoods to the cold-hardy Marquette wine grape to its most famous apple introductions, the Haralson and the Honeycrisp. Much of the revenue the SummerHouse generates will be invested back into research and inspiring new plant introductions that continue to cultivate the local horticultural industry.
The Arboretum is a member of the Heartland Food Network, which encourages the purchasing of local, sustainable or organic foods from Minnesota's farmers and producers.
The Minnesota Landscape Arboretum, the largest public garden in the Upper Midwest and a premier northern arboretum, is part of the College of Food, Agricultural and Natural Resource Sciences at the University of Minnesota and developed as a community and national resource for horticultural and environmental information, research, and public education. It is located nine miles west of I-494 on Highway 5 in Chanhassen. The University of Minnesota is an equal opportunity employer and educator. The Arboretum is disability accessible; the buildings and terraces are smoke free.
