Adult chaperone required for all students under 18. Recommend 1 adult chaperone for every 10 students. Chaperones in excess of 1 per every 5 students are $15/person.
If your group would like to eat on the Arboretum grounds, students may bring their own lunch, pre-arrange lunch with Arboretum Catering, or use the Arboretum Cafe.
Exploring Plant Science Careers at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum
Minimum group size: 10 students
DURATION: 90 minutes

Maximum group size: 32 students
This walk-and-talk tour with a University of Minnesota Horticultural Science faculty member covers the importance of a botanical garden, arboretum and/or city park to our communities. During this experience, students will be guided through various demonstration gardens and plant collections that are vital to the goals of a public garden! This tour emphasizes the many career opportunities in public gardens and horticulture, including plant breeding, plant care and management, conservation and plant curation. Careers in public horticulture include:
- Curator of Plants
- Landscape Gardener
If choosing to participate in this field trip at the Arboretum, please know that it takes place out-of-doors, and will take place rain or shine. Dress appropriately for the unpredictable Minnesota weather!
