Corn Creations
ALL AGES

Bring your friends and family for a fun filled afternoon focused on corn. Delight in the diversity and beauty of dried corn as you string jewel colored corn kernels to create a bracelet. In the kitchen you can help grind cornmeal and prepare cornbread, tamales, or tortillas to taste. Test your knowledge about corn with an interactive trivia game all about the origins, uses, and growing of corn. Go home with a greater understanding of corn, one of Minnesota's top crops, recipe ideas, and a colorful corn bracelet.

In Search of Spring

Think spring! Use willow branches to create your own butterfly and dragonfly creatures to keep you company while you wait for the real ones to return. Compare your observations of seasonal changes with people near and far. Learn about easy-to-spot signs of spring and take your new knowledge out into the gardens and your own neighborhood.

Into The Underground
ALL AGES

Beneath your feet is a world full of plant roots and their partners at work. Create art modeled on the intricate lace-like patterns of plant roots in the rich color palette of earth tones. Learn about the essential partnerships between plants and fungi that are hidden underground and view them at work. Then, take a walk along one of the Arboretum's many natural paths and look for above-ground hints of what lies below.

The Power of Scent
ALL AGES

TIME Drop-in anytime between noon - 4:00 p.m. 
LOCATION Learning Center
FREE with gate admission

Relaxed, energized, happy? Tune into how the smells of basil, lemon balm, and other herbs make you feel. Put your nose and fingers to the test as you explore herb gardens around the Learning Center and learn to tell them apart. Select your favorite colors and scents as you mix up a relaxing satchel or some stress-reducing playdough.

Waitlist

The best chance of being enrolled in a sold out class is to add your name to the waitlist. Click the orange "waitlist" button and complete the steps, or call 612-301-1210. There is no obligation to register if a spot opens. If the waitlist shows enough demand, additional class sessions may be added.
