Early June Gems (Updated June 6)
The Iris Garden, located just below the Sensory Garden parking lot, is in glorious full bloom this week. Visitors can be seen taking closeup photos of the huge variety of lovely flower shapes, textures and colors. Make sure to take in the peonies on the upper walkway behind the Snyder Building. This gorgeous collection will be close to full bloom by the weekend. Lady's Slippers are also in bloom in the Dayton Wildflower Garden and the Bog Walk. The Rock Garden next to the Japanese Garden is also blooming nicely, with a variety of ground cover and succulent plants, too. Vegetables are doing nicely at the Learning Garden, second floor behind the Visitor Center. This is also a great time of year to visit the lush Hosta Glade behind the Home Demo Garden to enjoy their glorious greenery.
