Tunes and Tales in the Trees- Free Family Performances
Thursdays, June 5-Aug. 28, 6:30 - 7:15 p.m., Trex Deck
Gather in the twilight as puppeteers, storytellers, musicians, dancers and artists share in the wonder of plants and nature. Bring a p icnic and a blanket or share a quilt. MN Rose Society Demonstrations
Wilson Rose Garden, 8 a.m. - noon Saturdays April 19 & 26, May 3, June 7, Oct. 11 & 18
Minnesota Rose Society members demonstrate various rose-gardening techniques. Here's the schedule: April 19, rose-lifting;  April 26, planting bare root roses; May 3, rose pruning; June 7, mulching roses; Oct. 11, tying roses; and Oct. 18, tipping roses. Free with Arb admission.

Free Concert Featuring Two Rivers Chorale
Saturday, June 7, 1-2 p.m., Snyder Building Auditorium
This talented choral group, under the direction of Timothy Sawyer, will perform a free concert of crowd-pleasing gospel, patriotic and traditional music in the Snyder Building Auditorium.  Free with Arboretum admission ($7 adults; no charge for members & youths 15 and younger). 'Photographing People' Workshop
Saturday, June 7, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
$95 member/ $105 non-member;  Level - intermediate
Expert instructors lead a variety of classroom sessions combined with field expeditions to help improve your photo skills.

Toast & Taste: In the Gardens at the Arboretum
Friday, June 13, 6-9 p.m.
A garden party featuring farm-grown Minnesota food, wine, beer and entertainment. Participating restaurants include: Vincent, Minneapolis Club, Corner Table, Barbette, 5 Course Catering, Gardens of Salonica New Greek Cafe, Green Room and more. Family Day: In the Garden
Presented by Target
Sunday, June 22, all day; main events from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

A celebration of the Arboretum's birthday with cake, crafts, entertainment and exercise for the whole family. Includes a Birthday Bash Dash 1K Family Fun Run/Walk at 10:30 a.m., and starting at 11 a.m., music,  crafts, Raptor Center demonstration plus free birthday cake and ice cream.  Bring a picnic lunch or order one in advance (at least two days ahead) by calling 612-624-7173.

JULY

Arboretum Auxiliary 24th Annual Summer Garden Tours
Tuesday and Wednesday, July 15 & 16
Tour exclusive private gardens in the west metro area via air-conditioned buses with onboard guides. A private lunch - complete with harp music - will be served on the Morgan Terrace as part of the tour package. Tour times are 8;30, 9, 9:30, 10, 10:30, 11 and 11:30 a.m. on both days. For reservations, call 952-443-1400, ext. 7052, by July 11. Fees are $45 for tour/brunch package; $30 for tour only, without the meal.

AUGUST

2nd Annual Flowerfest Weekend
Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 16-17, 12:30-4:30 p.m.
MacMillan Auditorium, Oswald Visitor Center

The Arboretum presents on the same weekend two of the most popular attractions of the summer season: the 26th annual Arboretum Flower and Garden Show, co-sponsored by the Federated Garden Clubs of Minnesota, and the Minneapolis Men's Garden Club's Food, Flower and Foto Show. As part of the shows, local plant societies and garden clubs will give demonstrations and presentations.

SEPTEMBER

Auxiliary Harvest Sale
Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 27-28
9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday
Snyder Building Auditorium

Purchase handcrafted, dried floral arrangements and gardening and bird-related gifts, all created by Auxiliary crafters.

OCTOBER

Friends of Andersen Horticultural Library Used Book Sale
Friday-Sunday, Oct. 3-5, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Snyder Building Auditorium

This very popular annual sale of gently used books raises funds for the Elmer Andersen Horticultural Library at the Arboretum. It is a project of the Friends of the Andersen Library. To donate books to the sale, call 952-443-1405.

Auxiliary Holiday Sale

Purchase beautiful seasonal floral arrangements, wreaths, ornaments, aromatherapy items and bird- and garden-related gifts. All created by talented Auxiliary members. Fresh greens from Oregon, outdoor arrangements, paperwhites and amaryllis bulbs also available. Proceeds benefit Arboretum. Preview night with complimentary wine and cheese is Thursday, Dec. 4, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. (ticket required; $25 per person; call 952-906-7616).
