FlowerFest Weekend: Flower Show, Prairie Fun on Aug 20-21

Join us this weekend - Aug. 20 & 21 - for Flower Fest at the Arboretum.  We will celebrate all things green and growing!  Here's what's on tap:

Men's Garden Club of Minneapolis'  "Flower, Food & Foto Show,"  12:30 to 4 p.m. Saturday and 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sunday.  This is one of the premier flower shows in the metro area - a display of stunning flowers, vegetables, floral designs and photography.  The show is open to the public and horticultural and flower arrangement entries will be accepted  between 7 and 10:30 a.m. on Saturday.  Categories include annuals, perennials, roses, bulbs,corms and tubers, potted plants vegetables, floral design and more!  Click here for specific rules or call Judy Berglund at 952-975-1960.  Membership in the club is not required for participation.  (The deadline for the photo contest was July 31.)

Weekend Family Fun:  Prairie Natives.  Noon-4 p.m. Saturday & Sunday  (drop-in basis).  Learning Center. 
Search for flowers, butterflies and birds in the prairie.  Discover how long the roots are on prairie plants and braid a sweetgrass bundle.  Free with Arboretum gate admission.

Walk for the Curious: The Prairie.  10-11:30 a.m. Saturday.  Departs from the Ordway Parking Lot.  Fee: $7.50 Arb member/ $15 non-member.
Join an Arboretum naturalist on this exploration of the garden's restored prairie areas.  They are at their peak this time of year.  Discover the grasses, flowers, butterflies and birds that inhabit this fascinating habitat.
