Chanhassen, MN (Feb. 2, 2012) - Mark your calendar for these fun February offerings at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum in Chanhassen:
Ladies Evening Escape: Looking for a mid-winter getaway that doesn't require packing a suitcase? Join us at the Arboretum for the Ladies' Evening Escape on Friday, Feb. 10, from 6 to 9 p.m. Admission is $10 per person (includes gate fee).
Take time from your busy everyday routine and experience the Arboretum in a whole new way! The evening lineup includes live acoustic pop and jazz performed by the BZ Girls (Carol Zimmerman and Tara Brueske); three fashion shows (styles from Coldwater Creek and more), displays/booths featuring more than 25 local jewelry stylists, home decor vendors, artisans and more. Plus wine and appetizers for purchase. The Arboretum Gift Store will be open, offering a 10 percent discount on all purchases. Tiny Treasures: Fairies & Gnomes Exhibit: They walk among us - hiding under leaves, flying through treetops, waving wands and sprinkling magic on the morning dew. Check out the Arboretum's "Tiny Treasures: Fairies & Gnomes," a display of fairy gardens, running now through March 4 in the Oswald Visitor Center. Presented by Tonkadale Greenhouse, "Tiny Treasures" encompasses several tiny garden scenes filled with fairies, sprites and gnomes, miniature plants, doll-size furnishings and small cottages. Accenting these arrangements are lush live orchids and other tropical plants. Bring the kids for fairytale readings at 10 a.m. & 2 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays during the exhibit run. Free with Arboretum gate admission ($9 adults; free for ages 15 & younger).
All About Weddings Fair. If you need some advice about planning a wedding, don't miss the All About Weddings Fair at the Arboretum's MacMillan Auditorium on Sunday, Feb. 26, from 1 to 3 p.m. Learn about the latest trends, garner decorating and catering tips and more. Browse among vendor displays featuring florists, musicians, liquor service, photographers and wedding coordinators. (Advance preview entry: noon-1 p.m. for those who have booked 2012 weddings at the Arboretum.) Ask about contributing to the Arboretum's wedding garden in honor of the bride and groom. The Minnesota Landscape Arboretum, comprising 1,137acres, is located in Chanhassen, Minn., on State Hwy 5, nine miles west of the intersection with I-494. The largest public garden in the Upper Midwest, the Arboretum is part of the University of Minnesota College of Food, Agricultural and Natural Resource Science. Open 363 days a year, admission is $9 adults; free for members and ages 15 & under.
