Free Weekend Family Fun - Spuds and Buds
|
|
Join us in March at the Marion Andrus Learning Center as we explore Kid-friendly potatoes: the world’s most popular vegetable. In addition to seasoning a spud snack and taking home fun recipes, participants will make potato prints and pot a potato to grow at home. Saturdays and Sundays, noon-4 p.m., March 1-29. No reservations required.

Growing Orchids Class & More
You can learn which orchids do well in Minnesota homes at this class presented by the Arboretum, Sunday, March 1, 1-3 p.m., in the Azalea Classroom, $30 member/$40 non-member. Topics will include identification, care, repotting, insects and diseases. Each participant will receive an orchid plant. Saturday, March 7, join the Orchid Society of Minnesota at the 4th Annual Orchid Symposium, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., MacMillan Auditorium, Oswald Visitor Center (includes lunch). $35 Orchid Society of Minnesota member/$55 Arboretum member, $65 non-member.

Sample the Seasons Indoors
“The Long Zoom” watercolors by Jeanne Long and Sandra Muzzy are on display in the Reedy Gallery, in the Oswald Visitor Center until March 29. Come and enjoy the intricate watercolors featuring the colors of nature throughout the seasons.
The Arboretum offers another way to explore the seasons with the Four-Season Garden Class, Saturday, Feb. 28, 10 a.m. - noon, in the Snyder Building, Classroom 1, $20 member/$30 nonmember. Extend the pleasures of your garden by thinking beyond the growing season. Learn new ways to enhance the winter garden. Class is suitable for all skill levels. Traditional and sustainable plant selections and growing techniques will be presented. Instructor: Duane Otto, Arboretum landscape gardener. To register, call 952-443-1422.
