Arboretum Offers Watercolor Spring Workshop & More for Artists!

Chanhassen, Minn. (March 16, 2010) - Enjoy spring at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum and let Bloomington artist Sandy Muzzy introduce you to the pleasures of watercolor journaling in a series of Saturday morning art workshops.

The Watercolor Journaling Spring Workshop will be offered the following four Saturdays: April 24, May 1, 8 & 15, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.   Instructor Muzzy will demonstrate easy-to-manage techniques in watercolor, ink, colored pencil, marker, mono-printing and collage, and help you develop your own style. Muzzy will also discuss bookbinding options. The fee for the series is $90 members and $105 for non-members.  The classes will be limited to 16 students at the beginner or intermediate level and will meet in the Snyder Building. Participants will spend much of the time hiking the Arboretum grounds, observing, and recording in their journals.

Sandy Muzzy is an award-winning watercolorist and popular teacher whose work has explored both musical themes and, more recently, the natural world. Her exhibit, The Long Zoom with Jeanne Long, was featured in the Arboretum's Reedy Gallery in 2009.  A native of South African, Muzzy now lives in Bloomington where she teaches watercolor to about 20 private students.  She is past president of the Minnesota Watercolor Society.  To register for the Watercolor Spring Journaling Workshop, visit www.arboretum.umn.edu or call 952-443-1422.
