The Arboretum's roots reach back to 1908, when the University of Minnesota Horticultural Research Center began developing apple varieties that could survive in the state's subzero temperatures. In 2008, join us as we mark 100 years of research and discovery -- and 50 years as Minnesota's premier public gardens -- with a year-long celebration. The schedule is already packed with events, and the much-anticipated "Treeology" Summer Exhibition that celebrates the year of the tree.

	Toast & Taste In the Gardens A garden party featuring Minnesota food, wine, beer and entertainment. Friday June 13 6:00 – 9:00 pm $45 per person; reservations required
	Anniversary Gala In the Gardens A beautiful evening to honor Peter Olin, the Arboretum's Director for the past 24 years. Wednesday June 18 6:00 - 10:00 pm Tickets start at $250 per person; reservations required.
	Hardy Plant Research Symposium In celebration of a long history of plant breeding and many introductions to Minnesota and the North Central States, the Arboretum will be hosting an Ornamental Hardy Plant Research Symposium.  June 19, 8 a.m.-4 p.m.
